A hard rocking band from the Santa Barbara/Ventura/L.A. area. With the release of their debut
CD "Surf Saloon" available on Seedless
Records, the Cowboy
Surfer CD features over forty-two minutes of in your face rock and
roll with socially and politically conscious lyrics. Cowboy Surfer
lyrics have a depth of meaning that can only be appreciated by taking
the time to read
them. But for the full effect, we suggest reading them while listening
to the CD at an appropriate volume level! Cowboy Surfer currently consists of three members: Stu
Shulman founder and fearless leader of the mothership Seedless
Records, handles guitars and vocals. Stu is a veteran of the L.A./Santa
Barbara rock scene and has been associating with bands from all over
the world to help promote Independent Artists. Stu was also involved with the media campaign for the Kosovo Relief Concert in May '99 which led to Stu being interviewed on and the song "Nazi's in Chile" receiving airplay on 92.9 KJEE/Santa Barbara by legendary DJ DM. This led directly to Stu being the first ever international interview on 106.7 PBS Melbourne (Australia's 2nd largest station) with Fred E. Gostein who regularly spins Cowboy Surfer music down under.
In
addition Stu will be helping other artists out with his new
T.I.M.S. (Totally Independent Musicians Services).
With today's artists focusing more on independent releases than trying
to get signed, T.I.M.S. will address everything from recording to releasing
independently and all of the steps and processes artists must go through
in today’s independent music world. All you need is the song and
the will to see it through and T.I.M.S.
will take care of the rest.
Original Bassist, Peter Farmasonis who hailed from Venice, CA. via Ann Arbor MI sadly passed away in May 2000. Pete was a free spirit who lived life to its fullest and never had any regrets. Pete's travels are legendary. With a zenlike attitude and a surfer's mentality, Pete's claim to fame was that he influenced the songwritings of such noted artists as Madonna, Courtney Love, Don Henley and Stevie Nicks. If you ever asked him, he'd pull out the lyric sheets and tell you the story over a cup of coffee on Main Street in Santa Monica. Pete you will always be loved and missed and you will forever live on in our hearts and music.
Studio
drummer Dave Haddad was the
drummer on Surf Saloon. Dave doesn't mess around. He loves to pound
his skins. He takes it very seriously. He has a style reminiscent of
Carl Palmer of Emerson, Lake and Palmer. Dave is also an accomplished
engineer who worked on both the Cowboy Surfer and Stone Rain CD's as
well as various other artists in the L.A. music community. Dave has
been associated with so many bands, that "Save the Trees" would come
after us if we tried to list them all. Suffice it to say, he's a player.
Cowboy Surfer has also entered the digital world of MP3's and can be downloaded at such sites as Ampcast, IUMA, MP3.com and Seedless Records . Our aim is to get as much exposure for the band as possible via radio airplay, magazine and newspaper reviews, the internet, word of mouth and of course live performance. Cowboy Surfer plans on riding the wave to the top of the music world.
